Ten Autumn Favourites for October

Ten Autumn Favourites for October

2016 has been an expensive year so far. But it was also a fantastic one. We skied in Italian Dolomites, flew to New York in spring and visited Japan in autumn. But I’m not doing my yearly round-up yet, so let’s rewind and check my ten autumn favourites so far.

Autumn can be tricky. It gets colder, but days are often still pretty warm, at least in London. Despite how much I love them, my chunky jumpers will have to wait a bit longer. But just so I don’t get too cold in the mornings and evenings, I make sure I have a few jackets hanging in our wardrobe. I already wrote about the trench coat I fell in love with in the spring and it’s absolutely perfect for early autumn. Short, so it fits my small frame and so well tailored, it’s no surprise it’s number one on my autumn favourites list.

And the other item I couldn’t be without is this little denim jacket. It’s perfect for more casual days or even thrown on over a dress to make it look instantly cool.

Autumn favourites - flatlay

Rainy London puts a quick stop to wearing flats pretty quickly, so investing into a good pair of boots is essential. My favourite pair is made in Japan and it’s no surprise. Japanese shoes are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. The 7cm heel is high enough to add to the elegance and the embossed lizard belt provides a great detail. I only wish that it would be easier buying Japanese brands in Europe.

My obsession with Japanese brands goes beyond shoes. I filled my wardrobe with wide leg trousers, some more casual and some very elegant, especially when paired with a blouse. The colours are very autumnal as well, browns, greens and blacks.

There’s nothing quite like a good floppy hat to protect your blow-dry. I love mine and how it adds a bit of mystery to my look.

Who doesn’t own a few huge blanket scarves? They are so versatile, we can wrap ourselves in them, style them around our necks to keep warm and they make us look so much more fashionable. And the fact they come in a variety of materials is even better. In autumn and spring I choose a lighter one, while in winter I always go for soft woollen ones.

No outfit would be complete without accessories. In a moment of weakness, I stopped by at Accessorize and purchased a necklace and earrings in rose gold, which is my favourite colour at the moment. I’ve drawers full of rose gold jewellery and it seems I can’t get enough of it.

Comfy PJs are a must for autumn weekends. Spending a whole day in my favourite pyjamas is still on my to do list for October. Fingers crossed, I’ll soon be able to tick this one from my list. Checked bottoms are some of my autumn favourites. They almost look like track suit bottoms, so lounging around in them is high on my list of priorities.

Candles make all those evenings when the sun is no longer up so cozy. I love Yankee Candles, there’s so many scents to choose from, so you never get bored. My current autumn favourites are black coconut and clean cotton. But if you want something more seasonal, why not try cinnamon stick.

And there’s more to scents than candles. Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt is my autumn favourite when perfumes come into play. I’ve always prefered fresh and clean scents and this one really brightens my day.
