I admit, I was a little bit reckless and went a teeny tiny bit overboard while shopping in the last two weeks. But my spring wardrobe was due a bit of a refresher as I needed to update my ultimate spring jackets selection. I already wrote about the nightmare that was trying to find a trench coat with a perfect fit, but luckily finding a bomber jacket, a blazer and so on is a whole lot easier.
I don’t think anybody could escape the hype around bomber jackets this season. Owning a trench, a blazer (more than one), a lovely Banana Republic jacket that I bought a couple of years ago (it’s sold out, but I linked to a similar one) and a fair amount of other items that can be described as outwear, I found it tricky to find an excuse for a bomber jacket purchase, apart from saying I really want one. But this one from TopShop was too good to miss. I just had to have it. I’m usually a size 8, but size 6 fits perfectly, regular not petite.
I loved the one with badges, but as it’d be more difficult to wear to work, I stuck with the plain one. And the selection is pretty good, from different colours to quilted and silky ones, I’m sure there’s one for everyone.
The other item on my list of ultimate spring jackets is a trench. It’s perfect for colder days and it makes me feel slightly glamorous. If you’re petite and find it difficult to find one that fits well, check out my post on finding one.
I also spend just under £30 on a denim jacket, again, they are all the rage this spring and I love accessorizing mine with a colourful scarf. Denim jacket is a must have item as you can easily throw it over a summery dress or be brave and try a double denim look. These jackets keep you warm enough in those days when a T-shirt isn’t enough. I love wearing mine when I meet friends at a pub.
The Banana Republic jacket got a fair amount of likes on Instagram and I keep getting comments about how fab it is. Unfortunately, it’s been a couple of years since it became a permanent staple of my wardrobe, but they have similar ones out now too. I love this one because it’s slightly more elegant, so it immediately transforms my more casual outfits into work appropriate style. And again, I’m only 5’1″, so a cropped jacket is perfect as it helps me appear taller.
I also always have a leather jacket, it somehow feels appropriate and it’s great for windier days. It’s another cropped one, but whenever I try a larger jackets, they seem to have too long sleeves and drown me.
The last item I can’t possibly live without come spring is a blazer, or a selection of blazers that complete my ultimate spring jackets selection. Blazers instantly transform the casual into elegant look and I can’t even remember the last time when none were taking up valuable space in my wardrobe.
Do you have your own list of must have items? What are they?
